Reforestation

GMEI CBO targets to plant over 1million tree seedlings by
December 2023 through its Mua Local Climate Action Model
(MLCAM). So far, 400,500 tree seedlings have been issued and planted

Greening Schools

The Mua Greening Initiative program works closely with schools. There are 22 schools in the region and each received tree seedlings during phase 1 of the program. The Monitoring and Evaluation report for the trees planted in phase 1 indicate that the schools posted the lowest survival rate of 72%.

Agroforestry

GMEI is sourcing for bamboo seeds in order to plant 500,000 bamboo seedlings as propagation using the cams will be slow: –

the ultimate goal is to promote MUA hills as a center of excellence for Bamboos ecosystem.

Agribusiness

GMEI’s Climate Change Training Center has been set up to showcase different agribusiness opportunities especially for women and youth groups. Technical support from HCDA has been available to make the agroforestry program a reality

Water and Sanitation

A water resource mapping exercise was carried out in March
2020; the Results were well documented for further action. An estimated cost for rehabilitating the water resources has been established

IHUB and Clean Energy

An energy assessment was carried out in sampled schools
covered by the project in March 2020 and results were well
documented for further action. A plan to have a briquette factory is in place
